What is the greatest attribute of Our Lady of Peace?
OLP’s community nurtures spiritual growth, provides challenging intellectual opportunities and encourages each child to become the person God calls him/her to be.
What is the maximum class size at Our Lady of Peace?
The largest class size allowable is 32 students. Currently we average between
20 and 25 students per grade class. OLP has two classes per grade.
What is the school’s daily schedule?
School starts at 8:45 AM. with morning prayers. Classes for grades K-8 dismiss at 3:05pm. Kindergarten AM follows the rest of the school but dismisses at 11:20am. Kindergarten PM begins at 12:25pm and dismisses at 3:05pm.
What is the school’s curriculum?
OLP’s curriculum is designed in accordance to Illinois State Standards and
assessed using a variety of accredited examinations including the IOWA Test of
Basic Skills and DIBELS reading assessment. Our curriculum includes: Religion, Reading, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Computers, Library Skills and Physical Education are taught. In addition, opportunities exist for athletics, band, scouts, and more.
Where do your graduates attend high school?
Our students have been successful at all area high schools — public and
private. OLP’s curriculum has resulted in many graduating students being placed in honors level classes upon entering high school.
What extra curricular activities does Our Lady of Peace offer?
OLP is proud to offer a variety of clubs and athletic programs for our students.
Activities include Altar Servers, Band, Choir, Scouting, Student Council, Math
Team, Chess Club, and more. Our athletic programs are: Track and Field,
Volleyball, Basketball, Football and Cheerleading.
Is there an all-day kindergarten class?
Yes. We do have an all day kindergarten class. While the class spans the full school day, the instructional areas do not exceed those of our half day classes. All day kindergarten classes dismiss at 3:05pm.

Can you tell me more about Religious Education at OLP?
As a Catholic school, traditional Catholic-Christian values are part of each aspect of our school curriculum and activities. In addition, religion is taught as a subject at every grade level incorporating preparation of Sacraments.
Do children attend Mass during school days?
Yes. Mass is just one aspect of how we celebrate our life experiences as a Catholic community through liturgy and prayer. Our Lady of Peace students participate in:
Do you offer a hot lunch program?
OLP has a variety of hot lunches available for students. We also offer special lunch days hosted by various local restaurants. All lunches are portioned for a healthy, nutritional meal.
When does registration begin for first-time families?
Registration begins with the OLP School Open House during Catholic School’s Week at the end of January. Registration continues to be accepted until the classrooms are full. Currently there is no waiting list for enrollment.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes. There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee that is due at time of registration.
Are there other required fees?
Families are not required to participate in fundraising events, raffles, product sales or service hours. Participation is encouraged but only in a way that best suits your financial situation. As a Parish school, fundraising events are necessary as they do make up 25% of our general operating budget.

Are all of the children who attend the school Catholic?
We are proud to say that we have a mixture of students from diversified backgrounds, including students from different religious backgrounds. We welcome children of all faiths to Our Lady of Peace. Although every student must participate in all school masses, religion class and sacramental preparation we support the opportunity to share and learn with a diversified student population.
